Description
Laura Hartman is Global Account Director for RFID Source Tagging and Innovative Solutions at Checkpoint Systems, based in Bentonville. She joined Checkpoint in May 2025 as Business Development Manager for RFID Source Tagging and was elevated to her current role in August 2025. Her focus is the work that decides whether RFID compliance becomes an operational problem or an operational advantage: applying RFID labels during manufacturing, upstream of the Walmart distribution center, in a way that holds up across the SKU counts and packaging realities a Walmart supplier is actually managing. Source tagging is the discipline Checkpoint has been refining for more than 25 years. Laura is the person Walmart suppliers talk to about it.
She brings a credential almost no one on the technology side of the table can match: she spent 21 years inside Walmart and Sam's Club, in Bentonville, before she ever sold a solution into them. From 1987 to 1992 she was a Walmart store manager and inventory director, running departments across softlines, hardlines, seasonal, and grocery. From 1992 through 2000 she was a Senior Business Manager in Walmart ISD Operations, leading systems development projects across point of sale, inventory tracking, and supply chain technology, including early work on RFID, biometrics, self-checkout, the front-end CSM workstation, and the TLE tire program. From 2000 to 2008 she was a Senior Buyer II Merchant at Sam's Club, managing branded sourcing, licensing, and product launches across multiple categories. She has sat in the Walmart store, the Walmart technology office, and the Sam's Club merchant seat.
After leaving Sam's Club in 2008, Laura spent the next 17 years on the supplier side of the same relationship. At Hallmark and DaySpring she led new business development and product strategy for general market accounts including Walmart and Sam's Club. At General Foam Plastics in Bentonville she ran global sales and new business development across pools, outdoor toys, Christmas trees, and Halloween and seasonal categories, and helped lead the acquisition of Beckett Corporation in water gardening and outdoor decor. At Teters Floral Products she led a company restructure focused on global sales, sourcing, and dot-com infrastructure. From 2020 through early 2025 she ran a consulting practice in Fayetteville advising companies on sales, sourcing, supply chain, and new business development before joining Checkpoint full-time.
For a Walmart or Sam's Club supplier weighing how to take RFID from a compliance project to a source tagging program that actually fits the manufacturing line, Laura is the right call. She knows the merchant's side of the table because she sat in it. She knows the supplier's side because she ran it for nearly two decades. And she knows what Checkpoint has built for source tagging because that is now her job to bring to suppliers. Few people in the RFID conversation can speak Walmart, Sam's Club, and source tagging fluently in the same meeting. Laura is one of them.
