Walmart’s 2025 holiday campaign is built around momentum. Following its October “Walmart Deals” kickoff, the retailer will hold two Black Friday events before rounding out the season with Cyber Monday.
The first Black Friday Deals event will take place from Friday, November 14 through Sunday, November 16, available both online and in stores. Walmart+ members will receive early online access beginning Thursday, November 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
The second event begins Tuesday, November 25 and continues through Sunday, November 30, covering Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. Online deals will go live from November 25–27, with both online and in-store savings available from November 28–30. Walmart+ members will again enjoy early access, starting Monday, November 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
Cyber Monday follows on December 1 as an online-only event, with early access for Walmart+ subscribers beginning Sunday, November 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
The extended calendar gives shoppers more flexibility, while positioning Walmart to capture sustained demand through multiple buying moments rather than a single rush.
To promote the season, Walmart has unveiled a whimsical campaign inspired by the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss. The theme, “WhoKnewVille,” invites shoppers to rediscover the joy and surprise of finding unexpected deals.
The campaign blends nostalgia with modern retail strategy. It speaks to families who value tradition but want convenience, speed, and affordability. Walmart’s message centers on delight—showing customers that they can experience the magic of the holidays while still getting practical value.
For brands and suppliers, this approach underscores how storytelling can amplify product visibility. Items that fit into the spirit of discovery and joy will likely find a stronger connection with shoppers during this creative campaign.
1. Anticipate Early Access Demand
Walmart+ members receive several hours of exclusive early access during each event. Suppliers should forecast demand for this window, ensuring inventory and fulfillment systems are ready before the official public launch.
2. Stage Promotions Across Both Waves
The two-event structure creates room to feature different product sets. A lead-in offer during the first event can build awareness, followed by high-impact hero SKUs during the second wave, when traffic peaks.
3. Embrace the Theme in Merchandising
Integrating elements of “WhoKnewVille” into packaging, digital content, or in-store displays can help suppliers align with the national campaign and benefit from Walmart’s broader storytelling momentum.
4. Maintain Channel Consistency
Because the promotion spans both online and in-store environments, brands must ensure pricing, imagery, and messaging remain consistent. A seamless experience builds credibility with shoppers and strengthens conversion.
5. Monitor Data in Real Time
During these extended events, it will be essential to watch performance data closely. Tracking product availability, search trends, and basket mix will help suppliers adjust pricing and inventory before peak periods.
Walmart’s 2025 Black Friday strategy reflects a growing retail trend toward pacing major promotions rather than compressing them into one day. By extending access, highlighting value through membership benefits, and weaving in a playful creative concept, Walmart is designing a season that feels both organized and joyful.
For Walmart suppliers, success will come from preparation. Aligning with the retailer’s timeline, messaging, and fulfillment expectations can help ensure that when shoppers visit “WhoKnewVille,” your products are ready to meet them there.
